In 2014, there were 9,967
fatalities in motor vehicle
traffic crashes involving
a driver with a BAC of .08
or higher; this was
31 percent of total traffic
fatalities for the year.
Crystal Meth is a
smokeable form of
methamphetamine.
It's effects are similar to
those of cocaine but
longer lasting.
Crystal Meth can cause
erratic, violent behavior
among its users.
Long-term effects can
include coma, stroke
or death.
Alcohol can significantly
impair the judgment and
coordination required to drive a car or operate
machinery, even at low intake amonts.
Alcohol can produce detectable
impairments in memory
after only a few drinks
and, as the amount of
alcohol increases, so does
the degree of impairment.
Long-term, heavy use of
alcohol can lead to
addiction (alcoholism).
Sudden cessation of long
term, extensive alcohol
intake is likely to produce
withdrawal symptoms,
including severe anxiety,
tremors, hallucinations,
convulsions and even
death.

DUI: The most expensive
ride of my life
Methamphetamine is
highly addictive and users
trying to abstain from use
may suffer from the
withdrawal symptoms that
include depression,
anxiety, fatigue, paranoia,
aggression and intense
cravings for the drug.
The rate of alcohol
impairment among drivers
involved in fatal crashes
in 2014 was almost four
times higher at night than during the day.

Marijuana use is associated
with many detrimental
health affects. These
effects can include
frequent respioratory
infections, impaired
memory and learning,
increased heart rate,
anxiety and panic attacks.
Both Crack (Cocaine) and
Methamphetamine
smokers suffer acute
respiratory problems
which include coughing,
shortness of breath and
severe chest pains with
lung trama and bleeding.
Mothers who drink alcohol
during pregnancy may give
birth to infants with fetal
alcohol syndrome. These
infants may suffer from
mental retardation and
other irreversible
physical abnormalities.
Long term effects of
consuming large amounts
of alcohol can lead to
permanent damage to vital
organs, lowered resistance
to disease, several types
of cancer and high blood
pressure.
Brain damage is a common
and potentially severe
consequence of long term,
heavy alcohol consumption.
Even mild-to-moderate
drinking of alcohol can
adversely affect cognitive
functioning.
Research studies have
shown negative effects of
marijuana on drivers,
including an increase in
lane weaving, poor reaction
time and attention to the
road. Use of alcohol with
marijuana made drivers
more impaired.
Marijuana increases the
risk of chronic cough,
bronchitis, increases risk
of schizophrenia in
vulnerable individuals.
